Preventing Youth Violence To assist K-12 schools and districts with youth violence prevention efforts, SchoolSafety.gov recently released an infographic outlining the issue of youth violence, strategies to address it, and a sampling of related resources available through the Federal School Safety Clearinghouse. Strategies listed to address youth violence include fostering a positive school climate, ensuring access to mental health support, addressing bullying and cyberbullying, and implementing physical safety and security measures at schools.

 

Additionally, on April 28, the Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention will hold a webinar, “Supporting Vulnerable Youth: Preventing and Combating Bias-Based Bullying and Hate Crimes.” Presenters will explain bias-based crimes and bullying and discuss tools to counter stereotypes and help promote respectful, inclusive, and safe environments. Register for the webinar.
